It all started this way… After working as an editor, then becoming assistant director on several feature films, Xavier Mairesse got instantly noticed by the international Cannes festival for the very first spot he directed: “Heaven Can Wait” and won the only once in a lifetime “World Young Director Award” in 2002.

“Was it the beginner’s luck? “ His consistency through the following years keeps revealing an outstanding director who puts his own blood in every new project. Xavier became one of the most awarded directors in the world with 149 international awards in 2022.

Also called the “blockbusters” maker, he is famous for transforming little stories into hundreds of millions views, which makes him entering in the pantheon of the most bankable directors. “Any recipe? It is all about finding the right storytelling angle!”

He’s also been playing the piano for 35 years and composed many soundtracks for his own films.

Xavier believes that the commercial world is a fantastic playground for finding his own visual identity. Working with all the existing cinema equipment, special effects of all kinds, constantly looking for the right way to direct such human diversity from unknown actors to Robin Williams, collaborating with the best DOP’s ever…

“I’m so honored having a lucky star above my head which allows me to never stop improving myself. It took me 20 years of hard work and 300 little films on which I never stopped learning with excitement.”

His DNA? THE EMOTIONS! By mixing a narrative style with a cinematic look and the perfect knowledge of special effects, he made a name for himself as one of the moist interesting and spectacular directors for Apple, Vodafone, Toyota, Mercedes, Sonos, Marriott, Renault, Sky, Contrex, Mc Donald’s, Coca-Cola…

His documentaries and case studies have also generated enthusiasm worldwide. Notably "Please Arrest Me", which in 2021 became the 16th most awarded film in the world

In parallel, Xavier is currently developing four feature films: "LIFT" and "BOSTOWN" with the USA production Chromista/Protozoa  (The Whale, Black Swan, Pi, Requiem for a Dream...). And "THE EINSTEIN ENIGMA" and “VIEW FROM UP HERE” with Belga.

“Cinema needs to be more than just a breathtaking experience. Having an inner sense throughout the epic cinematic approach is vital for me.

Now I feel ready for the big screen, ready for epic, entertaining stories that don't leave you indifferent after the show."
